SDCC Graphic Design visits ArtCenter Pasadena & Blind in Santa Monica
On November 2 an advanced group of San Diego City College Graphic Design students boarded a chartered bus with AIGA Faculty Advisor Min Choi for design adventures in Los Angeles.
First stop. BLIND. Led by City College alumni Chris Do, Blind is a brand strategy design consultancy that helps businesses grow, launch products and build lasting relationships with their communities. After studying graphic design at San Diego City College, Chris went on to study at ArtCenter College of Design where he earned his BFA. An Emmy award winning designer, he is the founder and CEO of Blind overseeing the creative and strategic direction of the company. Prior to forming Blind, Chris worked at Cole & Weber, Seattle as an Art Director, Epitaph Records as a designer and freelance designer at broadcast design firm, Novocom and R/GA LA under Kyle Cooper on main titles such as The Island of Dr. Moreau, Celtic Pride and Eraser. Chris also leads thefutur a remarkable series of courses and tools designed to help creative professionals available on youtube and highly popular with SDCC design students. What an incredible opportunity for City students to connect with such an influential design thinker and strategist.
Next stop. ArtCenter College of Design in Pasadena where many City students have transferred to continue their studies, some on scholarship. They visited the incredible gallery, toured classrooms, saw the amazing new interactive alumni wall, checked on the studios and connected to faculty and students there. Our relationship to this unique design program is strong and long lasting. They offer undergraduate and graduate degrees in creative disciplines taught by practicing artists and designers. It's amazing to see the work and accomplished lives of City students who choose to continue their studies at ArtCenter.
