Real World Design: Envision the Future in Process & Production this Spring!
Students enrolled in Process & Production, ARTG 138 will have the unique opportunity to work with an actual client and create dynamic work for their portfolio. Register for CRN 99223 Process and Production which meets on Mondays and Wednesdays from 1-4:10pm.
Visit https://seaportsandiegoca.com/gallery/ to learn more about Seaport San Diego, a massive redevelopment project at downtown San Diego's bayfront.
We will travel to the Birch Aquarium in La Jolla to launch an exciting project in a brainstorming session and conference with Dr. Nan Renner, Senior Director of Learning Design and Innovation. In addition we will be visiting the Seaport site where the Learning Center will be built and engage in exploratory design concepts. Students will have the chance to choose to brand a wide variety of materials for their portfolio including posters about the blue economy and climate change, learning center identity, stationery, environmental graphics, banners, canvas bags, bookmarks, buttons, hats, shirts, advertising billboards and web based projects.
Seaport San Diego's lifelong learning center will be focused on marine sciences, maritime logistics and music. Students young and old will be a regular part of the crowds, enlivening the paseos and plazas of Seaport San Diego. UC San Diego and the Scripps Institution of Oceanography have helped developed plans for Seaport San Diego’s aquarium and its marine-focused learning center. Seaport San Diego will be a destination that brings life to the San Diego waterfront. The water’s edge will be the signature experience.
Along the way, students will learn more about human centered design and the blue economy which is a sustainable use of ocean resources for economic growth, improved livelihoods, and jobs while preserving the health of ocean ecosystem.
In addition to this project Professors Sean Bacon and Candice López will work with enrolled students to produce two additional projects designed to get your portfolio noticed! Students will select two additional projects of choice from this list:
Original type font & Application/Color-Design Process Project/Forms/Identity Manual.
