COURSES AND DEGREES

Lulubi Garcia Informational back of poster for Barragán Exhibition.

Students attending the graphic design program at San Diego City College can earn a Certificate of Achievement in Graphic Design or Associates Degree in Graphic Design. The certificate is 30 units and ideal for students who want to gain the skills and portfolio to get an entry-level position in the field. The Associate Degree includes the same core courses in the certificate then adds general education and electives to meet the minimum of 60 units for the degree. Students who hope to transfer and continue their studies in graphic design have often attained advanced standing. It is more cost effective to study at a community college and many students decrease their costs by completing general education prior to transfer to a four year institution or private university.

The students in this program are exquisitely prepared as they leave City College Graphic Design and are geared for success in the highly competitive and demanding profession of graphic design. It is a thrill for me to welcome the students who are coming to Academy of Art University on scholarship.
