Sean is a professor, passionate designer and obsessive typophile who teaches a wide range of classes at San Diego City College. He also helps direct and manage the graphic design program and its administrative responsibilities. His courses have included portfolio, advanced typography, portfolio building, and basic graphic design. He brings his wealth of experiences and insight to help produce many of the award winning portfolios from City. He has worked for The Daily Aztec, Jonathan Segal Architecture, Parallax Visual Communication and Silent Partner. He attended San Diego City College, San Diego State and completed his masters at Savannah College of Art and Design.

Omar Garcia, a seasoned designer with almost 20 years of experience, brings his expertise to San Diego City College as a teacher of identity design. Raised in Southern California, Omar's design sensibility has been shaped by the region's vivid colors, cultural diversity, and dynamic entrepreneurial spirit. His career transitioned from sketching logos in schoolbooks to invigorating brands professionally, illustrating his deep passion for design. When he's not behind the screen, Omar is on a quest to find the perfect coffee and pan dulce pairing, often enjoyed by the lake with his wife.

Donald Gould is an artist, illustrator and designer specializing in product design and development, print design, illustration, branding, photography and video. Raised in Southern California he currently works as lead designer at Knockaround LLC where he creates product design, marketing materials, packaging and advertising. Donald also oversees brand identity and develops new trends and ideas for future campaigns. When he’s not watching Kitsch movies for personal amusement, he works to expand his creative range by experimenting with old-world trades and alternative forms of communication.

Mike Green is a creative director, design thinker and brand strategist with over 20 years of creative industry experience. Mike has collaborated with talented teams at fortune 500’s and non-profits from all over the globe. From brand identity to broadcast, graphic design to campaign development, Mike has collected a wide range of valuable tools for an ever-evolving media landscape. One of Mike’s greatest passions is education and helping design students make the transition from the classroom to the professional world. He currently teaches ARTG-135 Professional Practices and helps coordinate the Graphic Design Internship Program. When Mike’s not lecturing on the value of design, you can probably find him out surfing or playing soccer with his kids.

Ami is a mover, shaker, and designer who relocated to San Diego from New York City. Her passion for social justice advocacy is put into action through her job at Raygun, an impact-driven creative studio. Ami's life experiences as a professional acrobat, dance company director, and supermom add a unique perspective to her design work. An alumni of East Carolina University and San Diego City College, she is excited to infuse her diverse experiences into the San Diego City College Graphic Design team.

Leanna Jones is a designer and educator with over ten years of experience applying her strategic design mind to a wide variety of project media. Set up for success at San Diego City College, she transferred to San Diego State University where she earned her BA in Graphic Design, went on to freelance for a large digital agency immediately following graduation, and never looked back. As the current Design Director at Cozy, she mentors, trains, inspires and leads creative team members on a daily basis across all types of digital and print projects. She is passionate about teaching, the ever-changing world of design, and committed to bringing her large/small agency expertise to the classroom.

Lindsay Jonkers, an alumna of San Diego City College's graphic design program, transitioned from architectural lighting design to graphic design and now shares her experience with students in the same program. When she's not teaching, she works as a senior graphic designer, specializing in branding and digital marketing design. Lindsay is also an accomplished oil painter, running her own art studio from home.

Candice López is an educator and design activist who has taught at San Diego City College for over 30 years. Recognized as a national Design Fellow by the American Institute of Graphic Arts she is dedicated to serving a diverse student population. She challenges her students to think about social responsibility, culture, and conceptual communication to develop global competencies and thrive in our increasingly interconnected world. Candice taught design abroad in Italy, Mexico, Spain and Switzerland. She is a founder of the Urban Art Trail project that helped transform inner-city communities and is the subject of an award-winning children’s picture book. A designer and art director at firms like BBDO Los Angeles, she also served as Arts and Culture Chair of San Diego’s Downtown Vision plan.



Bradford Prairie is an educator, designer, and brand strategist. For over ten years, he has applied his keen eye for detail and aesthetics to a wide variety of digital and print projects. A product of startup culture, his embedded curiosity and spirit of innovation has helped realize the vision of early-stage growth companies. Formerly the Creative Director at Ignyte, his concept-driven process has helped create authentic and emotionally-engaging brands. Open-minded and infinitely curious, thinking is at the heart of everything he does. Bradford is an alumni of San Diego City College and the University of California, Irvine.


Matt Turney is a Graphic Designer and Illustrator with over 20 years of experience. As an instructor, Matt's goal is to 'pay it forward' to his students by teaching effective design, promoting industry collaboration, and encouraging them to recognize potential opportunities. Over the years, Matt has worked for design agencies, tech startups, in-house departments, and even founded his own company, Sneakerbox. His client list includes renowned companies such as Adidas, Nike, AMC Theaters, Burton Snowboards, Barona Casino, The San Diego Padres, San Diego Wave Futbol Club, and San Diego Legion Rugby. Matt is an alumnus of Portland Community College and Southern New Hampshire University and has also studied at Oregon State University in the field of Graphic Design.

Colleen Woolsey is a graphic designer and Illustrator with 10+ years of experience in the field and holds a B.A. in Graphic Design and Media Arts from SNHU. She has felt passionate about and excelled in a number of Graphic Designer roles in diverse industries, from print production and marketing to illustration and package design. Her growth as a designer sparked her desire to share and cultivate this passion with others in the classroom. When she’s not designing, illustrating, or teaching, she spends time with her family, goes outdoors, works in her garden, or gets crafty with needle felting and hand embroidery.
